Privacy Policy
Qwezmo (we, us, our) operates the website and services available at https://qwezmo.com (the Site).
Last updated: April 21, 2026
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use the Site. By using the Site, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
2. Information we collect
Qwezmo does not require sign-up or accounts. We do not maintain a database of registered users, email addresses, or real-world identity. What feels like "your" nickname and game-related preferences usually live only on your device (browser storage). When you join a live game, our servers temporarily hold operational data for that session (for example, the nickname others see in the room, scores, and room state) so the game can run. That is not a permanent user profile on our side - it exists to sync gameplay and, in our typical deployment, is ephemeral server-side data rather than a long-term personal record.
- On your device (browser storage). Your browser may store, in
localStorage, an anonymous browser session identifier (under the keyquiz_party_session) that is generated the first time you visit and is sent with game and analytics requests as thex-session-idheader so we can group a player's activity within a room without a login. We also store your chosen display name, avatar emoji, and sound or mute preference. A short-livedsessionStorageentry tracks the last quiz generation id so the client can reconcile it with the room that was created. You can clear all of this at any time via your browser's site data or storage settings. - On our servers (live games only). While a game is active we process data needed to operate it: room and player records for that session (including the nickname and emoji copied from your device for display), pins, quiz content for that room, answers, scores, and related flags. In addition, lightweight lifecycle and UI click events (for example, "game started", "answer submitted", "affiliate link clicked") are written to analytics tables (
ui_events,analytics_events,player_answers,game_sessions,quiz_generations) and keyed by your browser session id and the room id. This supports real-time play and product analytics, not building a marketing file or account history about you, and it is pruned on the schedule described in Section 8. - Technical data. Like many sites, we may receive standard server and analytics-type data when you interact with the Site, such as IP address, approximate location derived from IP, browser type, device type, referring URLs, and timestamps. Where Google Analytics 4 is enabled on a given deployment (see Section 5), GA4 receives standard page view and event signals through Google's
gtag.jslibrary. Third parties that serve ads (see Section 5) may collect additional data under their own policies. - Quiz generation inputs. When you request an AI-generated quiz, we send your chosen parameters and topic-related text to our backend, which forwards content to an AI provider for processing (see Section 4). The exact topic text is used to generate the quiz and is displayed to players during the game session (for example as the room title). This in-memory room data is ephemeral and is discarded when the session ends. Where we retain category-style metadata in analytics, we store only a broader generalized label - not the exact topic you typed.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Site and multiplayer features;
- Generate quiz content when you use that feature;
- Maintain security, debug issues, and enforce acceptable use;
- Comply with law and respond to valid legal requests where required.
Operating the Site includes third-party API usage fees when you use AI-powered quiz generation. That cost is part of why we rely on the monetization channels described in this policy (for example advertising in Section 5 and affiliates in Section 14) to keep core access available without requiring a paid account.
4. Artificial intelligence and automated processing
Certain features use third-party AI services to produce quiz questions and related text. Today we use Google Gemini (model gemini-3.1-flash-lite-preview) as the primary quiz generator and OpenAI (model gpt-5.4-nano) as an automatic fallback when Gemini is rate limited, unavailable, or returns an error. Free-text topics and generation parameters leave our server only to those two providers via their official APIs. When you trigger quiz generation:
- We transmit prompts and parameters (such as topic, difficulty, tone, language, and timing settings) to our servers, and our servers send requests to the AI provider's API.
- The exact topic text is used to generate the quiz and related copy and is shown to players as the room title during the game session. This room data is held in memory only while the session is active. In longer-term analytics we retain only a broader generalized category - not the exact topic string.
- The AI provider processes that content on its systems. Their use of data is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We encourage you to review Google's Privacy Policy and applicable Gemini or API terms, and OpenAI's Privacy Policy for the fallback path.
- Do not submit sensitive personal data (for example, government IDs, full financial account numbers, or health information) in quiz topics or free-text fields intended for AI processing.
- You may choose one or more game tones or vibes(Funny, Professional, Study, Kids, or Adult 18+). That text is for entertainment only. Some tones may include trash talk, coarse jokes, innuendo, or other edgy material generated by AI - it is not aimed as a real-world attack on you or your guests. If you dislike that style, pick a milder vibe or stop using the feature. You are responsible for whether the tone fits your group and for who you invite into a room.
- AI output may be inaccurate or incomplete. We do not guarantee that generated content is correct or fit for any particular purpose. Although we make reasonable efforts to tune and optimize prompts and to balance quality with API cost within what we consider a sustainable price for the service, those efforts do not remove the risk of errors or unsuitable content.
5. Google AdSense and advertising
We may use Google AdSense or other Google advertising products to show ads on the Site. Google and its partners may use cookies, mobile advertising IDs, and similar technologies to deliver and measure ads, including personalized ads based on your visits to this and other sites.
Revenue from advertising, together with affiliate commissions described in Section 14, helps fund API usage, hosting, and ongoing development so the Site can stay free to use in typical party play. Affiliate storefront links are a separate monetization channel from Google AdSense; both may appear on the Site.
- For more on how Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
- You can learn about Google's advertising cookies and related technologies at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising from Google by visiting Google Ads Settings or, where available, aboutads.info choices.
Where required by law (for example, in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom), ads or non-essential cookies may be shown only after you provide appropriate consent through a consent mechanism we or our partners display.
Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
On deployments where the VITE_GA_MEASUREMENT_ID environment variable is set, Qwezmo loads Google Analytics 4 through Google's gtag.js library to measure aggregate usage (page views, route changes, approximate device and geography signals derived from IP). GA4 is not loaded at all when that variable is unset, and GA4 events do not include the free-text quiz topic or player nicknames.
Google's use of any data collected via GA4 is governed by its own terms. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services for details. You can opt out of GA tracking across sites via browser controls or Google account settings.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We and our partners use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for essential site operation, preferences, analytics, and advertising. You can control many cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may limit certain features (including ad personalization or measurement).
7. Sharing and processors
We may share information with service providers that help us run the Site, including hosting, AI APIs, advertising networks, and affiliate marketing partners (for example Amazon and AliExpress) where those features are enabled. These providers are permitted to use the information only to perform services for us or as otherwise described in their own policies. We may also disclose information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law or to protect rights, safety, or security.
8. Retention
Nicknames, the anonymous browser session id, and preferences stored in your browser stay there until you clear site data or uninstall the browser context (for example, deleting stored data for qwezmo.com).
Live game data on our servers is kept only as long as it is needed to run and wind down sessions. Rooms and their associated quiz content are held in memory while the session is active and are dropped shortly after the game ends or on server restart. Analytics rows written during play (ui_events, analytics_events, player_answers, phase_spans, question_instances, game_players, game_sessions, quiz_generations) are pruned on a rolling basis with a default retention window of 10 days. The pruning job runs in both Postgres and file-backed development modes, and we do not maintain long-term individual gameplay archives.
For AI-generated quiz topics specifically, the exact topic text is visible to players during the game session (for example as the room title) but is held in memory only while the session is active. In longer-term analytics we record only a broader generalized category label - not the exact prompt text.
Third parties (such as Google for ads, GA4, or AI, and OpenAI for the fallback AI path) may retain data under their own rules. We retain other information only as long as needed to operate the Site, comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or port the personal information we hold about you, including under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and similar laws. To exercise rights that apply to you, contact us as described in Section 13 (Contact). You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country.
A practical note: because Qwezmo does not require sign-up, we cannot look you up by email. If you are asking about specific gameplay records, please include your anonymous browser session id (the quiz_party_session value visible in your browser's site-data inspector under localStorage), the approximate date of play, and, if you remember, the room PIN. Without those, we may not be able to identify the relevant data inside our 10-day retention window.
10. Children and age-restricted content
The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children in that group. If you believe we have done so, please contact us so we can delete it.
Certain quiz settings (including the Adult (18+) vibe and similar mature tone options) are intended only for adults. They may cause the AI to generate content that includes strong profanity, sexual themes, drug or alcohol references, or other material that is not appropriate for minors. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher, before you select those settings or host or play in a room that uses them.
Where the Site asks you to confirm your age or acceptance for adult-oriented features, you must answer truthfully. If you cannot make that confirmation, do not use those features. Hosts are responsible for only inviting people who are old enough and willing to see that kind of content.
Nothing in this policy is legal advice about what is lawful in your country. You are responsible for how you use the Site, including compliance with local rules about adult content and gatherings.
11. International transfers
We may process and store information in countries other than your own. Those countries may have different data protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
13. Contact
For privacy-related questions or requests, you may contact us on Telegram at https://t.me/Qwezmo_contact. That link opens Telegram in your browser or app if installed.
14. Affiliate links (Amazon Associates & AliExpress Affiliate Program)
Qwezmo is a participant in the Amazon Associates Program and the AliExpress Affiliate Program - affiliate advertising programs designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon sites, AliExpress, or other storefronts where those programs are available.
We may show product suggestions or links after a game or elsewhere on the Site. Those recommendations may be informed by game context such as the quiz category or topic you played, and may appear for one or both platforms. They are suggestions only; prices, availability, shipping, returns, and all purchase terms are controlled by the respective seller (Amazon, AliExpress, or their marketplace sellers), not by us.
The display order of affiliate platforms may vary based on the product category and your browser locale. This is a UX preference - not tracking. No personal data is collected or shared for this purpose.
If you buy something through an affiliate link, we may earn a commission from qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you. Whether you use our links is always your choice.
